Fedrik Olsen
We can classify Fredrik Olsen, a very talented Swedish artist, as an abstract expressionist because he uses color to express his moods. Born in a small village in the north of Sweden, he has been painting and drawing since he was a child. However, his artistic activity began in Argentina, where he moved out for love and spent a happy period dedicating himself totally to painting. While his motherland, where he often returns , has learned him to appreciate the quiet and nature, Argentina has allowed him to discover the energy and passion of color. Two distant and so different places in the world, both are the important sources of inspiration for this young artist. On his canvas the energetic and bright „Argentine” colors are often beside green and blue shades which recall the fogs and forests of Scandinavia while just as silver alludes to the ice of the fjords. His research focuses mainly on color, often obtaining surprising effects. We can see it, for example, in the artwork “ Grape “ being part of triptych entitled “Verde Alma”, where the green, inspired by the grape, becomes almost magical, giving off its own light and at the same time changing shades according to the lighting. Fredrik Olsen, endowed with great imagination, is also a designer and set designer, having designed and created set-ups and decorations in various trendy venues around the world. His first anthropomorphic compositions recall the works of Arshile Gorky, a famous American artist of Armenian origin, following the inspiration dictated by the new naturalists. His artworks release positive energy from every brushstroke representing a hymn to life.
